disease and objectivity: microbiology
Photomicrography, photography through the
microscope, found a pioneering space of reception and diffusion
among Catalan physicians and scientists at the end of the
19th Century. Photomicrography works were predominant among
physicians used to work with microscopes. It is worth to point
out, above all, the team made up by Drs. Jaume Ferran i Clua
and Innocenci Paulí, as well as Santiago Ramón
y Cajal, specialists on bacteriology and histology and experts
on photography. The Museum not only harbours a representative
series of this kind of photography, but also historical documentation
that allows understanding those works in their historical
context.
