disease and objectivity: pathologic anatomy
Pathologic anatomy made use of photographic registration,
as a complementary means to drawing, when systematically obtaining,
classifying and collecting pathologic organic structures.
The objectivity of this procedure, nevertheless, did not take
the place of other types of registration because of technical
reasons. The department of pathologic anatomy of the Faculty
of Medicine, located at the Teaching Hospital in Barcelona,
advantageously combined both techniques along the first third
of the 20th Century. The collection of photographs on this
field preserved in the Museum is exhaustive.
